Using Pjoys pyjamas as his blank canvas, Kofie transplants shapes and angles into an organic, earthy and retro-futuristic aesthetic. The calming combination of pink and black evokes a sense of thoughtfulness and a time to reflect. Augustine Kofie pyjamas are the perfect urbane modish night attire for him, her and they.
Pjoys offer a twist on the classic cotton PJ design, enhancing style and comfort. The button down organic cotton shirt has a chest pocket, longer shirt tail and complimentary piping throughout. The relaxed slip-on trousers have a drawstring waistline. Cuffs are wide and buttonless, making it quick and easy to slip on and off.
£10 from every purchase goes directly to the Pjoys Foundation, supporting Mental Health charities and innovative projects who are working towards making mental health an everyday conversation. Our first beneficiary is Samaritans.
With a deep interest in process and structure, Augustine Kofie creates works of intense detail centring order and tension in both his studio pieces and mural interventions. The precision of Kofie’s “drafted” art is inspired by mechanical drafting and the language of modern architecture and uses the paper detritus of the 20th century as building blocks. In his quest for balance, Kofie harmonizes opposing and contradictory dynamics, setting futuristic compositions against vintage earth-toned palettes and creating technically complex, meticulously structured formations through handmade line-work and layering. Active in the west Los Angeles graffiti scene since the mid-nineties, the artist’s work reflects the influence of the craft of deconstructing lettering, street culture, contemporary music, and 1960s-70s iconography to create a unique language.
Recent exhibitions include: MKNZM, Swinton Gallery, Madrid; Build From Memory, Openspace Gallery, Paris; INVENTORY, Jonathan LeVine Gallery, New York & SCRATCH, Getty Research Institute, ESMuseum of Art, Los Angeles.
Kofie has been featured in Juxtapoz, Graffiti Art Magazine, The World Atlas of Street Art and Graffiti, Le Petit Voyeur and VNA Magazine 26. His work is in both national and international private collections.
